Position Summary

 The Eastern Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is responsible for driving business development and managing client relationships in Eastern region of the United States.  The RSM will sell Kluge presses, converting systems and third-party offerings to commercial printers, trade finishers, packaging printers, and direct mail manufacturers. The RSM is responsible for generating new business from both existing customers and new prospects, along with educating customers and prospects about the company's complete product lines. The RSM will manage the territory in multiple other aspects as well by providing input to the company on competition, identifying market trends and will be responsible for achieving annual quotas in the territory.

 Responsibilities

 Customer Relationships

    • Build and maintain successful customer relationships.
    • Develop contacts from inquiries, leads and referrals into relationships by building trust and confidence in the Kluge brand.
    • Expand knowledge of Kluge customer's businesses by reading trade publications, online research and insight about the industry in an effort to better understand customer challenges and needs.
    • Prepare detailed examples of how Kluge products have helped other clients with similar needs or problems.
  • Discovery
    • Practice excellent listening skills and excellent customer questioning skills to deliver not only what the customer needs, but what they want.
    • Practice a consultative sales approach.
    • Create detailed discovery letters and agreements for all appropriate sales opportunities.
    • Always reach agreement with the customer on a specific action that moves the customer forward in the buying process.

 Advocating

    • Continuous improvement in product, application and industry knowledge to provide competent advice and council to customers and prospects that builds trust.
    • Relate how unique selling points (USP's) of Kluge products provide solutions for customer needs. Reinforce advantages, benefits and positive effects of product features.
    • Review/negotiate pricing and terms, adhering to defined limits regarding margins, exposure and liability, to maximize company profits.
  • Supporting
    • Become a resource to customers for information, help, ideas and problem solving.
    • Enhance the customer relationship by maintaining customer satisfaction and trust through consistent communication and customer service.
    • Manage the installation and implementation process after the sale.
    • Facilitate open and candid organizational communication within Kluge.
    • Advocate for customers in the event they are disappointed with Kluge equipment or service. Manage this process to achieve customer satisfaction and positive results for the Kluge organization.
  • Territory Management and Administration
    • Proactively manage referrals and customer inquiries to develop new relationships.
    • Manage all key customer issues while maintaining profitability and generating new business from new and existing accounts.
    • Develop and distribute data for monthly forecasts and annual sales budgets in a timely manner.
    • Maintain current and accurate account information within the customer relationship management system.
    • Set up and maintain competitor files and share data with appropriate personnel.
    • Submit detailed expense reports in a timely manner.
    • Participate in industry events whenever possible by conducting presentations to trade associations, as well as attending and/or exhibiting at industry trade shows.
    • Travel extensively throughout the territory along with national and some international travel for various events.

 

Qualifications/Skills Required

 Proven record of achieving sales goals in direct capital equipment/industrial sales.

  • High level of Customer Service experience with strong strategic and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills with exceptional prospecting, presentation, training and coaching skills.
  • Strong Communications skills (written and verbal) and must be proficient with Microsoft Windows based programs.

 

Education/Experience Required

 Bachelor's, Associate's or Technical degree; or military experience in related field.

  • At least three years of related work experience.
  • Experience in the printing or packaging industry preferred.

 

Personal Skills Required

 Personal characteristics include a sound ethical foundation, high personal integrity, ability to work under pressure, and a sense of humor.

  • Self-motivated and can work independently, takes ownership of tasks and opportunities.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.

 

Work Environment

 * Frequent overnight travel, a minimum of 7 to 10 nights per month.

  • Moderate to frequent exposure to manufacturing environments.
