Position Summary

 Reporting to the president and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Vice President of Operations and Finance (VP) will be responsible for the development of Kluge's operational and financial management strategy and contribute to the development of the organization's strategic goals. In addition to the strategic components, the VP will be charged with developing and implementing policies and procedures both in the operational and finance realms.


  • Strategy, Vision and Leadership
    • As a key member of Kluge's leadership team, the VP will participate in the development of strategic focus and organizational priorities.
    • Advise the president and other key members of the leadership team on financial planning budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters.
    • Serve as the management liaison to Mark Andy, Inc.; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at select meetings.
    • Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the president informed of all critical issues.
  • Team Development/Leadership
    • Provide leadership to the organization to continue to build and strengthen a robust safety culture.
    • Provide vision and direction regarding the focus on enhanced operational excellence and Lean manufacturing as value streams are defined.
    • Lead Lean initiatives within the manufacturing operations. Including enhancement of Lean knowledge within operations and empowering employees to implement improvements. Instill in leadership the focus of educating employees and holding them accountable to the tools and principals of Lean; including Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5-S, and SMED.
  • Operations
    • The VP will plan, organize, direct and control the activities of the engineering, manufacturing, supply chain logistics, and manufacturing support services that make up the manufacturing organization.
    • Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost.
  • Finance
    • Coordinate the company's planning process and forecasting activities.
    • Coordinate the completion of monthly and annual financial reporting.
    • Cash management and forecasting.
    • Ensure that consistent procedures and processes are used by all financial functions and that procedures/work instructions are properly documented.
    • Maintain IT system data and related records.
    • Coordinate audit of company inventory and develop a cycle counting program.
    • Gross margin and product line analysis including the identification of opportunities for improvements for cost control and reduction.
    • Manage and control inventory including development of processes for identification and reduction of excess inventory. 

Qualifications/Skills Required

 The VP must be customer driven, assertive, intelligent, organized, an effective communicator and profit motivated.

  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching and negotiation skills are required.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting.
  • Must possess excellent project management skills; strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities.
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated through championing accountability, maximizing team and individual strengths, seeking and implementing change, and aligning with critical business objectives.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities through tactful and mature behavior.
  • Must have a hands-on in-depth knowledge of lean and continuous improvement methodologies as well as supply chain management experience. 

Education/Experience Required

 Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required, advanced business degree is preferred.

  • Combined 10 plus years progressive operations, financial and business management experience.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Proven track record of recruiting, training and motivating personnel to achieve growth and profitability.
  • Advanced user and management experience with Microsoft Office and ERP applications.

Work Environment

 Climate controlled office.

  • Moderate to frequent exposure to manufacturing environment.
  • Some work requires the usage of Personal Protection Equipment. 

Physical Demands

  • Frequently lift up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facility and/or customer's facilities.
